Directions to Xiamen University

Xiamen University, short for XMU, was founded in 1921 by Mr. Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. It is the first university founded by overseas Chinese in the history of modern education in China. It is one of the earliest universities in China to recruit graduate students. It is the first university in China to build an independent campus overseas, and is known as "the strongest in the South".

Xiamen University is known as "the most beautiful university in China". Its campus is located in a lake facing the sea, backed by Wanshi Botanical Garden, with Nanputuo Temple on one side and Baicheng Beach on the other.

It is across the sea from Gulangyu Island, a world cultural heritage. Its early buildings, including Qunxian Tower, Jiannan Tower, Furong Tower and Xiamen University Anthropology Museum, are the key cultural relics protection units in China.
